In Person Individual Occupational Therapy

Serving the Outer Banks and surrounding areas of Currituck & Dare Counties of North Carolina

We provide direct occupational therapy sessions serving children ages birth to 21.  We have created a unique private practice here at Coastal Connections Pediatric Therapy.  We provide services mainly outdoors at local parks, your backyard, the beach, local parks, and hiking trails. We use neuro-affirming therapy strategies focusing on a holistic approach using your child's strengths and interests to guide our therapeutic goals.

We combine sensory integration strategies, neurodevelopmental and motor learning infused with a nature-inspired approach getting your child  outdoors.  Giving your child the opportunity to freely explore their interests in an environment without expectations allowing them to make internal connections while raising their confidence, improving their body awareness, emotional awareness, self regulation skills, and overall sensory motor skills.

The benefits of nature are endless from decreased anxiety, improved attention and focus, and even carry over to improved academic skills.  Our goal is to instill a sense of wonder and creativity to give your child the confidence and autonomy to fully participate in what is meaningful in their lives.

We provide individualized occupational therapy, telehealth, parent consultations and coming soon nature play groups.  We also offer a variety of evaluations, consultations and screenings; all include a through written report with follow up.

Comprehensive OT Evaluation:  This evaluation takes approximately 2 hours.  This will give you a complete assessment of your child’s sensory processing and sensory motor skills, fine motor and visual motor skills.  It includes parent interview, standardized testing, and clinical observations.

Occupational Therapy Screenings:  These can be provided at your home, your child’s pre-school, private schools or day care.  It will be a brief 20-minute screening of sensory processing, sensory motor, and fine motor skills, depending on the area of concern.  The results will allow you to determine if your child needs further evaluation or occupational therapy services.

In-Services:  We provide in-services (customized to your needs) such as providing an overview of occupational therapy, sensory processing skills, self regulation and coregulation, ideas for home programming, and implementing sensory and nature-based activities into your homeschool or the classroom.  In-services can be provided at a location of your choice (i.e. pediatrician’s office, pre-school, homeschool co-op, parent group etc.).

Parent Coaching Call- 60 minutes ($145):  Do you have general questions about sensory processing, fine and gross motor development?  Wondering how to modify your homeschool day or home life for a neurodivergent or a child with sensory needs, then a parent coaching call is for you.  Would you like to know how to create a beautiful sensory rhythm to enable your child to confidently and freely explore during their day to enable them to learn and participate in the activities that they love?  I can answer general questions and point you in the right direction to guide you to meet the needs of your child.  I put you in the driver seat, you are the expert on your child and know your child best.  Resources and handouts will be emailed after the call.
